Steps To Repair A Missing Inbox In Outlook Express

Microsoft Outlook Express is a mail client software that allows you to send and receive emails from an internet mail server. The software like the Outlook saves your Inbox folder information to a backup file named Folders.dbx. Any sort of virus infection will make the folders corrupt and missing. Follow the steps below to repair a missing Inbox in Outlook Express.

Instructions to resolve Outlook Express problems

Switch ON your device. Click on the Admin account label. Enter your password when prompted to log in as the user.
   Open Microsoft Outlook Express application. You may launch the application either from the home screen or from the Start menu. To launch the application from the desktop, click on the desktop shortcut or the plug-in on the taskbar. Instead, you may also launch the same from the Start menu. To launch the application from the Start menu, click on the Windows orb placed on the bottom left corner of the home screen. From the Start menu, select the label that reads All Programs. The All Programs submenu will list down the programs and applications installed on the system. From the list select the label that reads Outlook Express.

  • Click on the Tools label. You will find the Tools label placed on top of the menu bar. From the Tools dropdown, select the label that reads Options.
  • This will launch the Options Window. Navigate to the Maintenance tab.
  • Click the folder labeled Store Folder and enter the file path where your Folders.dbx file is stored on your computer.
  • Close Outlook Express program.
  • Launch the File Explorer/My Computer Window. You may use the shortcut Windows + E to launch the File Explorer Window. You may also launch the same by clicking the shortcut on your desktop. 
  • Right-click the file labeled Folders.dbx and select the Rename option.
  • Rename the file as Folders.old and then close the window.
  • Open Outlook Express and allow the program to automatically recreate the Folders.dbx file. Once this is complete, your Inbox folder should appear in your Outlook Express.
