Tutorial For Hiding The Security Alert Icon In Windows


The Windows Vista and 7 operating systems from Microsoft comes built-in with a security center that includes a Firewall, anti-virus, Internet Security suite, and some applications meant for the purpose of maintainance. This is a very useful feature since it provides overall security cover to your computer. If you have installed a third-party security program, you would obviously want to disable the security center. Now the problem is that if you do so, a notification icon will appear on the system tray right next to where the clock is located. This will throw up regular alerts informing you that many of the security center feature is disabled. Fourtunatley there is a way that lets you to turn off this option keep the alert icons hidden. Instructions for Windows 7 users

  1. Hit the “Start” button located on your taskbar. The button bears the logo of Microsoft and is easy to identify.
  2. Highlight the option which says “Control Panel” from the start menu and click on it. This will open up the control panel window.
  3. Continue with this procedure by clicking on the link which says “System and Security”.
  4. From the newly opened window  select “Action Center” and then click on the option labeled “Change Action Center Settings”.
  5. Decide on the security alerts that you want to disable, and unmark the respective checkboxes. 
  6. Once you are done with that, hit the “Ok” button.

Instructions for Windows Vista users
